A Few Things to Consider When Shopping for an Anniversary Ring
ShareWhether it is your first anniversary or your 50th, an anniversary ring may be the perfect gift. While many people do not consider an anniversary ring until they have been married for a few years, it can be a very special gift if you were not able to get an engagement ring or the one you wish you could have gotten. The process of determining which ring to get is going to be a little different than when you went shopping for the engagement or wedding rings though. Here are just a few things you need to think about and keep in mind when you are looking for the right one.
Which Finger
An engagement or wedding ring is always worn on the ring finger of the left hand. This does not need to be the case with anniversary rings. If you want to get one to be worn with the wedding set, you need to be sure it is not going to be so wide as to not fit on the finger comfortably. You also do not want the ring to be so showy as to take away from the wedding band. However, if your spouse is going to wear the anniversary ring in place of the wedding set, or if it will be worn on a different finger or the other hand, by all means, get something that is going to attract attention. While you may want the gift to be a surprise, you should consider talking it over with your spouse to find out how he or she wants to wear it.
Stone
You may want to get stones other than diamonds for an anniversary ring. You could go with a stone that represents the month you were married or perhaps one that is commonly associated with the number of years you have been together. If you are not sure, you can always ask the jeweler which stone is best for that anniversary.
Setting
If your wedding ring is set in white gold, you could consider going with yellow gold for the anniversary ring. This will give your spouse an option when dressing. Some people do not like to mix the different colors in their jewelry so they end up always wearing things that are the same color or metal. When you get the anniversary ring in a different metal, it means your spouse can now wear that metal as well. Of course, this may mean that you are going to have to buy more jewelry in the new metal in the future.
Regardless of the anniversary ring that you decide to purchase, your spouse will know you would marry him or her all over again.
